Halé Bob Fashion Show @ Knokke

Woodstock op Miami Beach. Zegt jou dat wat? Kan je je daar iets bij inbeelden? Neen? Kijk dan naar de foto's (klik voor groter) die the hubby maakte op het defilé van Halé Bob, want zo kan ik de kledingstukken het best omschrijven: Woodstock op Miami Beach. SoBe Hippie Chique.

Ik hou, hou, hou van de felle kleuren, opvallende prints en vloeiende silhouetten. Ik heb wat bedenkingen van de praktische soort bij de paillettenbikini's (auwch?) maar vind ze wel überschattig. Mijn favoriet stuk? De catsuit. In taupe. WANT IT! Want it just as much: alle accessoires!

Lush - Cynthia Sylvia Stout

Het is weer zo ver. Vandaag toon ik jullie één van mijn favo-Lush producten. Herinneren jullie je mijn Bon Jovi haarfase nog? Toen ik om raad ging bij überlieve, maar binnenkort jammer genoeg ex-Lushie Saskia, gaf ze mij een staaltje Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo mee. Niet zo veel later kocht ik een 500 ml fles. 

Deze kruidige cocktail voor het haar bevat stout (donker bier), citroengras, citroensap, cognacolie, fijn zeezout en balsamicoazijn. Als je op de ingrediënten afgaat, zal je net zoals mij verwachten dat deze shampoo zorgt voor extra glans. En dat doet hij ook! Maar ik had niet gedacht dat mijn haar er minder pluizig, fluffy, Bon Jovi in the 80ies van zou worden. Zeezout? Dat geeft toch volume? Neen, de combinatie van het bier en de cognac maakt je haar net zwaarder waardoor het lekker stijl blijft. De geur? Als je van citroengras houdt, zit je goed!

Choc-o-lait

Ok, de laatste dagen was het wel aan de warmere kant, maar als we allemaal eerlijk zijn, hebben we deze zomer nauwelijks zomer gehad. Meerdere avonden heb ik in een lange pijamabroek en met een dekentje op de zetel gezeten. En wie lange pijama en dekentje zegt, zegt in één adem ook: warme chocolademelk!

Telkens ik in Brussel Zuid station moet zijn, wandel ik snel naar de Carrefour voor een voorraadje Choc-o-lait stokjes. Normaal gezien hebben ze maar 3 smaken in stock, maar de laatste keer dat ik er was, was er een heus assortiment nog beschikbaar.

Ik koos voor de smaken milk, cointreau, natural vanilla, caramel en dark. Er lag nog hazelnut en coffee. Hazelnut liet ik liggen wegens mijn notenallergie. Coffee had ik al gekocht en vond ik niet zo lekker.

Maar wat is Choc-o-lait nu eigenlijk? Choc-o-lait zijn blokjes chocolade op een houten stokje. De bedoeling is dat je dit als een lepel door warme melk roert. Hierdoor gaat de chocolade smelten en krijg je chocolademelk. Easy as pie!

Ondertussen heb ik al drie hele weken niets van make-up gekocht. Het is niet echt een no buy, maar eerder een low buy om wat centen te sparen voor onze citytrip in oktober naar New York, Washington en Miami. Tijdens onze vorige citytrip naar New York zwengelde ik eigenhandig de Amerikaanse economie terug aan. 

Maar bon, genoeg gepraat over de toekomst en het verleden en terug naar het heden. Net voor mijn low buy begon, sprong ik bij MAC binnen voor de Heavenly Creature collectie en spotte ik in het permanent gamma de mooiste oogschaduw ever!

Hoe feller je de oogschaduw uitwrijft, hoe donkerder en minder glimmend hij wordt. Ideaal voor een not so average smokey eye. 

Coffee, coffee and some more coffee

Let's face facts. Cars run on fuel, people run on coffee. The hubby and I are no exception. Actually, I think the hubby's veins contain coffee, cause he drinks about 1,5 liters of coffee during the day. 

During my student years I just drank regular pre-ground coffee that I found in the supermarket. As I grew up, so did my coffee-palate. Now I enjoy the finer types of coffee. Today, I want to show you my (and the hubby's too) top 3 coffee beans. Jup, beans, no more pre-ground coffee for us!

Maragogype - Jamaica Blue Mountain - Kopi Luwak

Maragogype

Maragogype is an easy to come by variety of coffee. Originating in Brazil, this coffee bean is the biggest coffee bean in the world. Therefor it is sometimes referred to as Elephant Bean coffee. The taste is slightly sour. 

Price: around 22,00 EUR per kilo

Jamaica Blue Mountain

The name of this type of bean refers to the place it is grown: the Blue Mountain region on Jamaica. Most of the harvest finds its way to Japan, where this coffee is very popular.  The overall availabilty is, well, low. I don't know where you can buy this coffee in Belgium. We bought it in London. This type of bean has a fruity taste, sort of sweet. No need butchering it with sugar!

Kopi Luwak

Kopi Luwak coffee is special, to say the least. It is also known as Civet Coffee. A civet (or Luwak, in regional dialect) is a small mammal, kind of a cross between a cat and a weasel. This little predator eats ripe coffee beans. In its stomach and bowels, the fleshy outside of the bean gets digested. After a day, a day and a half, the civet poops out the still intact beans. Coffee farmers collect the clumps, thoroughly wash them and leave them to dry in the sun. After only a light roast the beans are ready to be made into the worlds most expensive coffee. I only know one place in Belgium where they serve this coffee. At 25,00 EUR per cup one must savor every drop of it. I still haven't found a shop that sells the beans. So we bought our stash in London.

The taste is good, not to say very good. It is a refined taste, smokey, kinda chocolatey. But it isn't 20 times more than regular coffee good. Why do I say 20 times? Well,... see below.
